Boom AKA Dorito

Ever wondered what a WAIF cat’s life looks like after they get adopted? One-year-old Dorito’s adopter gave us a sneak peek into his life during his first year at home!

Hello WAIF,

In July 2025, my son and I adopted a tabby kitten from your shelter. We named him Boom because he has a good purr, and he’s also best friends with our other young cat, Sonic.

Here’s a day in the life of Boom:

  • Wake up on top of me when I wake up
  • Get food
  • Chase and be chased by Sonic around the house (morning edition)
  • Sleep on my son’s bunkbed
  • Hang out in the catio
  • Sleep on my lap while I work
  • Hang out on his high shelf on the wall in my room
  • Watch birds and other exciting things from the catio
  • Ride on my shoulders while I do chores
  • Explore the attached garage
  • Get dinner
  • Chase and be chased by Sonic around the house (evening edition)
  • Argue with the neighborhood cat who likes to hang out outside the catio in the evening and mess with him and Sonic
  • Snuggle with me and my son
  • Disappear into some secret hiding spot in the house for an hour or so
  • Reappear when he feels like it to fall asleep next to me on the bed
  • I’m sure he gets up to some mischief at night, but I’ll never know exactly what
Here are some photos for you. Thanks for helping connect us with him. He is a wonderful and much-loved member of the family.
Sincerely,
Katherine B.
