Pet Licensing
For Whidbey Island residents outside the city limits of Coupeville and Langley
Now selling licenses for 2026! Licenses purchased now are good through the end of 2025 and 2026.
It is required by Island County to license your pet per code 6.08.020. Additionally, by licensing your pet, you improve the chances of getting your pet back should they become lost. It quickly identifies your pet to get him or her safely back to you. Licensing also lets people know that your pet is up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and can be safely handled and cared for as a rabies vaccination is required to license your pet. 2026 licenses will expire in December 2026, regardless of the month of purchase. Island County licenses are only required for dogs.
WAIF only sells licenses for:
- Whidbey Island residents only outside the city limits of Coupeville and Langley.
- City of Oak Harbor residents
- WAIF does not sell licenses for Camano Island, city of Coupeville, and city of Langley residents.
Whidbey Island License Fees
$10.00 license fee for altered dogs
$33.00 license fee for unaltered dogs
City of Oak Harbor License Fees
No person shall permit more than three dogs or three cats over the age of four months in or on any residence in the City of Oak Harbor. OHMC 7.20.100.
City of Oak Harbor Pet License Fees
$10.00 license fee for altered dogs/cats
$40.00 license for unaltered dogs/cats
Cities of Coupeville and Langley
WAIF does not sell pet licenses for the cities of Coupeville and Langley. You may be required to provide documentation from your vet of spay/neuter and vaccination of pets upon purchase of license(s). Licenses are to be renewed annually in the month of January.
