Ferifaz AKA Cake

When we received a sweet card from WAIF thanking us for having had our new dog for a year, I decided to share our story…

After I spent a year visiting WAIF, almost weekly, unsuccessfully seeking our next dog, a small, senior dog, after our dearest Magie Mae (also from WAIF) had died, I was astonished to walk in one day and be told, “We have your dog!”

This dog, neither a senior nor a small dog, turned out to indeed be “our dog,” named “Cake” by WAIF. She had spent her time at WAIF sitting on the manager’s lap! She was brought in to meet us, and spent her time climbing on and kissing her handler. My first impression was of her beauty—brown and white, spotted ears, white chest, tail tip and paws, one blue eye, one brown, and a sweet expression on her face.  We decided to take her home, and this was the best decision we could have made!

From the start, she has proved to be intelligent, obedient, very loving and affectionate, and eager to please. We have renamed her Ferifaz, after Parcival’s half-brother, from the ancient legend; he was also piebald, or two-colored.

She is such a love—she is happiest sitting on my lap, or lying across one of us, or snuggling right up against us in the bed. She can catch treats in midair! She loves to chase her ball. She is very inquisitive and has a habit of cocking her head to the side when puzzling about something. Oh, how she loves her toys, Duckie and Clarice, and her “boney.”  In the mornings she races and gallops around the house, a toy in her mouth, so happy to be awake and alive! We adore this pup and are deeply grateful to WAIF for bringing her into our lives!
