Through generous donations, we have reached $1.4 million dollars of our $3.8 million dollar goal. The current success with the fundraising efforts is due in part to the generosity of longtime WAIF supporter, Ms. Betty Azar. We are extremely grateful and proud that she is one of the lead donors for the WAIF new shelter project In addition, WAIF has received two anonymous donations pledging $250,000 and $300,000 each, and endorsements and participation of many community members including well known author Elizabeth George. With the many financial contributions coming in, we move closer to our goal to break ground on the main shelter building in September of this year. In addition, WAIF has qualified for its 2012 grant from the Handsel Foundation, which continues its generous support to help staff the Capital Campaign. The animals who come to WAIF, adopters, volunteers and staff alike all deserve a healthy, safe and comfortable shelter environment on Whidbey Island. It is long overdue. WAIF must build it and we need your participation by investing in this project now. We have information available for donors and are working hard to disseminate accurate and detailed information to the community. All gifts are important and extremely valuable. We are grateful for each one. To learn more about the many ways you can give to the new shelter project and how your donation will make a difference, please contact the WAIF Capital Campaign office by phone at (360) 221-0321 or use our Contact Form to request additional information.fforts is due in part to the generosity of longtime WAIF supporter, Ms. Betty Azar.
