COVID-19 Update

Thank you for your patience while we navigate through the next few weeks or possibly more with the COVID-19 situation. In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, WAIF has made changes to its operations and events to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 contagion for our customers, donors, volunteers, and staff. We will respond accordingly as we continue to monitor the situation closely.

Shelter Operations

WAIF shelter and adoption facilities are closed to the general public at this time. We are providing limited services for the community for the following programs:

Crisis Care Coupons
Prevent-A-Litter Coupons
Surrenders
Stray Intake

If you find yourself in need of these programs or are interested in a possible adoption, we request that you contact us first by phone (360) 678-8901 to provide you with assistance.

Thrift Store Locations

Until further notice, our retail locations in Oak Harbor and Freeland are closed to the general public. We are following the CDC strategy of social distancing and incorporating stringent cleaning protocols to help ensure of WAIF family of customers, donors, volunteers, and staff.

REMINDER: With our thrift stores closed, we are not able to take donations at this time. If you are able, please hold onto your donations until we reopen. Dropped off/abandoned donations are considered litter and will most likely need to be disposed of at solid waste sites at WAIF’s expense. This expense takes funding away from our programs that help our homeless pets. Thank you for understanding and your patience.

Spring Fling Dinner & Auction

At this time, we have decided to cancel our Spring Fling Fundraising Dinner and Auction that was to take place May 16th. Given that this is a highly social (& fun!) event, we felt obligated to again follow CDC guidelines of social distancing to keep everyone safe.

Our Spring Fling event is our biggest fundraising event of the year and one that provides so much in supporting our general operations to help our shelter animals and low-income members of our community. Though we won’t be able to hold this event this year, please consider supporting WAIF with an online donation to help provide funding for our services that include helping our shelter animals with enrichment, daily nutrition, and medical needs.

With our retail locations temporarily closed and our Spring Fling event canceled, your support and compassion is very much appreciated. The impact of these events will be greatly felt in raising much needed funds for our homeless dogs and cats. If you are able, we would appreciate your support today to provide ongoing daily care and compassion for homeless pets.
